New Site Director for Hunterston A

Magnox’s Hunterston A Site has welcomed a new Site Director to lead the site through its decommissioning phase.

Mark Stubbs is a familiar face at Hunterston A, having worked at the site since early 2011 when he joined as Deputy Site Director and Projects Manager.

Bringing with him 26 years experience of the nuclear industry Mark joined Bradwell Power Station, located in the South East of England, in 1985 as a Health Physicist.

Mark has held various positions across the industry, including: Corporate Safety Advisor at Berkeley Centre, Site Inspector for Bradwell and Hunterston A, Head of Environment, Health, Safety and Quality at Wylfa Power Station, Project Manager for Reactor Services Organisation and Programme Manager at Oldbury Power Station.

A Marine Biology (BSc) graduate from Heriot-Watt University Edinburgh, Mark also has an MSc in Radiation and Environmental Protection and an MBA with the Open University.

Mark said: “Hunterston A is a great site and I am really looking forward to continuing my time here as Site Director.

“The workforce has safely delivered excellent work throughout 2011 and I am extremely proud of that. My personal focus for 2012 is to continue our delivery of great safety and business performance whilst working to prepare the site for care and maintenance ahead of 2022.”

Mark started his new role 1 January 2012, replacing Peter Roach who left the site last month, after six and a half years, to fulfill a key role within Magnox’s Strategic Programmes department.

Peter said: “I have really enjoyed my time at Hunterston A. The site has changed dramatically over the last few years and I feel very privileged to have led such a talented and committed workforce which has consistently demonstrated the right values in terms of safe delivery.”
