Barrier wing wall progress

Wing wall removal project

The project to remove Bradwell site’s barrier wall wing walls is on-going, and to date 80% of the west wall and 40% of the east wall have been removed.

Despite these achievements, delays to the project have occurred due to unfavourable weather and tidal conditions, resulting in reduced dive windows.

Methodologies have been reviewed and updated in order to improve diver safety which has in turn reduced productivity.

The project is now working towards completion at the end of March 2012. Magnox alongside Costain, the principle contractor undertaking these works, will endeavour to reduce the amount of disruption caused as a result of these delays, but if you have any further enquiries please contact Bradwell Communications on telephone: 01621 873548 or email: bradwell.communications@magnoxsites.com.

Magnox at Bradwell Site received permission from the Marine Management Organisation (MMO) to undertake the removal of the barrier wing walls in the Blackwater Estuary following a public consultation and Environmental Impact Assessment last year.
